What a wonderful world

"They say that Dark Samus was like that... Phazon in every way... Even skeletal systems..."
Akiba continues his lookout.

"Dark Samus was a phazon-based creature. I was originally a normal human, or so I've been told." Dune turned off her plasma blades once more and sat down, looking over her suit.

"Still... How do you NOT suffer Phazon Madness?! That's insane... Sometimes I actually WANT to be corrupted..."

"Because i didn't get my phazon from being attacked by a phazon creature or Dark Samus. Whoever did this to me knew what they were doing. The rest, i don't know. I can't remember anything, except when i woke up from being used almost like a power source by the Space Pirates."

"Ok.... What do we do now?"

Dun heaved over the corpse of a Warp hound. "I'll tell you what, dinner." She looked around and found what looked like wood and set it on fire, as she began to build something to cook the Warp Hound on. "There we go." Needing to use her hands, she unequipped her suit, her veins of Phazon standing out except when covered by the skin-tight top and pants she wore. "Looks like it'll be a feast."

"That's what I'm talking about!"
Akiba takes off his helmet.

Dune felt better knowing he was actually human-looking, and watched the Warp Hound cook. "Looks tasty." She rummaged around her pocket and pulled out a small packet of herbs, and sprinkled some on the flesh.

"If only I had some of Lawry's Seasoning Salt... ((LOL Season salt)) You ever tried that? Its SO GOOD!!"
Akiba stared at the hound as he drooled.
"It looks so good... I haven't had a natural meal, if you call this natural, since I was like, 6!!"

As she tried to remember what she was like when she was 6, Dune suddenly felt sick to her stomach. "I-I'll be right back. You can start without me." She stood up and began to walk off, clutching her stomach from the searing pain, before her knees buckled and she fell, still holding her stomach, and now, covering her mouth. Something didn't want her to remember....

Akiba knaws off another piece of Warp Hound. Then, Dune fell over.
"You okay?!"
Chief runs over to her, dropping his food.

Dune's face was extremely pale, causing the veins of Phazon to stand out. "I-I don't know." She managed, looking as if someone had just stabbed her in the stomach. Soon, the pain slowly eased off, but it still stung, but to a more manageable state. "W-what the hell was t-that!?" She stammered as she tried to stand, but her legs provided no support.

"Here, just stay for a few and I'll have a bed made up for ya."
Akiba made the bed out of mostly sand and sticks. He helped Dune up and over to it and let her sit.
"You can go to sleep or whatever. I'll keep watch."

Dune was embarrassed she needed help, but she just nodded. She looked at her Phazon-veined hand, humming to herself. Then she pulled out her plasma blades and began to make changes to the weapons.

Chief watched Dune work on her weapons and wanted to become a weapons engineer. He continued watching, but, for now, the coast was clear.

Dune's humming became a soft singing "Baba yetu, yetu uliye. Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina.." She stopped as she turned on her plasma blades, but now instead of the usual red of plasma, it was green, the same color as the Nova Shots Samus used. "Baba yetu, yetu, uliye, Jina lako litukuzwe.." She trailed off, and stood up again. "Looks like my legs are done spazzing. Come on, we should get moving. The last thing we want to do is get stuck here at night."

"I've never been here at night... I'm guessing I don't want to know. Lets spread these sticks around so it looks natural."
After they finished the quick task, they moved on in the dark, and the usual happy atmosphere turned dark and scary. Thats when Akiba realized he was afraid of the dark.

Because of her "modifications," Dune could actually see fairly well in the dark. But she knew Akiba couldn't so she tapped his shoulder. "Want a pair of night-vision goggles? You're probably going to need them. Any light would attract the Hunters. They're excellent in the dark. Its almost like the sun weakens them or something like that..."

Akiba wraps the goggles around his helmet, then shuts down the LED lights on his suit.
"Thanks."
Akiba, now being able to see, notices a Hunter in the brush off to their left.
"You see that?!"

Dune nodded. "Yes, I seem him. Let's get him quickly, and silently. Any noise cou-" She stopped as another Hunter appeared and tackled her, slamming her into a tree.

Akiba turns to the hunter that held Dune to a tree and impaled it on his energy scythe.
"Don't screw with us."
Akiba turns and the other is gone. Then it tackles him, but it lands on Akiba's still activated energy scythe.

Dune twitched. "I am really beginning to hate these guys. Let's get rid of them." She yanked off the Hunter that had landed on top of Akiba, and threw the creature into another, before throwing her plasma blade at them both, instant death. "Any more interested in tasting my blade?" She asked.

"It looks tasty..."
Akiba tries to coax out the rest with this off-comment. After nothing shows up, he continues his original conversation.
"Do you know what a PED is?"

"Phazon Enhancement Device? Yea, i know about those." She said, leaning against a tree.

"Have you ever used one? My friend, whos a marine, said he once witnessed a marine go into phazon overload. Phazon covered himand he mutated; his bodily fluids became like Phazon... Maybe the Federation tested an early version of it on you and thats how you.... you know. Anyway, why are you here anyway?"
