Twin Fever: Study and Hopeful Extermination of a Deadly Virus from the Wild

"Go nuts..." Shasta was still hitting himself for his stupidity.

Dune shrugged, and wings spread from her back as she shot into the air, and disappeared from view, leaving only a few feathers behind. "Ok, it seems that this forest goes on for quite a while..." She looked around. "And i see no signs of a Pirate base, unless its covered by the forest. So this might take a while, b- urk!." A large what seemed like a bird grabbed at her. "Look out below. A package will be dropping." She ran it though with her plasma blade, and the carcass fell to the ground near the group.

"Package?" Shasta ripped up some cement from the path, and turned it into metal with his MTD. "TURTLE!" He then ducked under it, looking like a turtle. Thoth and Cliodna both put neutral thrusters up above their heads, following the same procedure.

"I imagine she's referring to taking down whatever has her. Are you sure that's enough?" Thoth asked.

"Probably. Remember, this is steel now..."

Akiba stares at the bird that just landed on his foot.
"Are these things edible?"
Akiba doesn't even notice the broken toe.

"What species is it?" Thoth asked.
"Species doesn't matter. I'll eat an innocent bunny, right now. I'm starved." He threw the piece of steel concrete into the woods. "Dibs on the leg!"

"Other leg!!"
Akiba charges a shot and uses the resultant heat to cook the creature. As soon as he was about to take a bite, he realized their objective and said "STOP!! What if the disease is spread via animals? That would explain for the lack of a source; if many animals around the planet are producing it, scans would be inaccurate. NOBODY EAT!!"
Akiba drops his giant leg.

"How would it make scans inaccurate? Because the scanners will pick up the organic tissue of the bird?" Cliodna asked, "These can differ microorganisms from any material."

"Plus," Thoth backed her up, "If it had twin fever, what are the odds that we found it alive?"

"Bad odds. It wouldn't fly that well if it were seeing double."

"We know it's not Lupus," Shasta cut in.

"I said it would make things inaccurate because the scans would come back with sources all over the planet; giving the illusion that it comes from everywhere. But, I guess you're right."
Akiba takes a hesitant look at the leg, then cuts it off and begins eating.
"Tasty..."

As Dune landed, she saw everyone eating the bird. "What the hell are you guys doing? And where is Samus?" The Legendary Bounty Hunter was nowhere in sight.

Shasta put away his scanner. "Bad news, Akiba. I was wrong,"

Akiba takes another bite then realizes what he's just eaten.
"Son of a-"
Akiba notices his vision begin to blur, then he sees two Samuses in front of him.
"This is fun. But at least if I die, You guys will know how it spreads..."

"Nice. Samus isn't here. Let's get moving; fast. We'll need to find a cure for mister lets-eat-something-before-we-know-its-safe." She heaved Akiba up. "Should we leave him here and come back later?"

Samus was deep in the forest now, and hopelessly lost. She thought she had saw something, but when she lost track of it while following, she was already to far away from the group to see them anymore. "This is Samus. Can anyone hear me?" Samus said on the comm, but something was jamming her signal. That could mean space pirates. Cocking her Arm Cannon, she walked off in a direction.

Akiba, still awake and able to move, said "I can move on my own, for now." He recieved a transmission from Samus, and replied with a nervous laugh and "guess who has twin fever? Heh-heh."

"Well, at least someone got my signal. And let me guess, you went and got yourself infected. Nice job hero. I'l-" Her voice stopped talking, and some gunfire was heard. "I'll catch up with you g-" All that was heard was static.

"Excatly my point. Come on, let's get moving. We're here to cure this illness, not get ourselves infected. Ludicrous speed go!" Dune said, and began running off. "Hurry up!"

"Gotcha. The scans showed that it had the flu. I was wrong about Dune hitting me. The power of suggestion made you cross your eyes," Shasta began walking again, then turned around and said, "By the way, you're going to live, but you may get pukey."

Akiba begins seeing normally.
"Thank Jeebus."

Samus stood over the group of fallen Space Pirates, but her suit crackled. "Error: Suit malfunction. Removing suit to prevent further damage." A glow flashed as her suit suddenly disappeared. "Transported to Gunship." Her comm said, and she let out a flurry of curses and swears. Jumping into the air, she moved a lot faster than before, and soon found the group. She leaped in in-front of them, finding the temperature without her suit annoying. "Hi." Her cold blue eyes went over the group.

Dune laughed. "Why'd you take your clothes off Samus?" She asked. Samus was still wearing her skin-tight Zero-Suit, and glared at Dune. "I'm sorry, but it was a good phrase." she said, apologizing for teasing Samus about her current situation.

Akiba thought about why he halucinated Samus, and wondered if another hunter was present on the planet.

Samus watched the group. "Let's get moving." She felt unsafe and vulnerable without her suit; it was her home. And, the Zero-Suit didn't provide much protection, even though she was much more agile.

"So... no punching me for playing that joke?" Shasta was surprised. "Sounds fair to me."

"I'm too nauseous. I'll do it later."
Akiba needed to puke, but couldn't take off his helmet for fear of Twin Fever. He puked all over his visor.
"Oh hey! There's the forearm of that reptillicus I ate the other day!"

"You ate a reptilicus' forearm?" Shasta looked at Akiba like he was insane. "Okay, then."

"Surprisingly, all creatures from Bryyo are tasty over a fire. Dune taught me that one."
Akiba puked up a chunk of Warp Hound.
"By the way, it smells better the second time." He says this sarcastically, so they know his suffering.

"For the record, It's not my fault you have the flu." Shasta pointed out. "Plus, I bet I have Oseltamivir Phosphate back at my ship. That might help your flu a bit."

"Oselta- what now? Nevermind. My stomachs empty and I can see-mostly. I'll be good for the time be....be....achoo!"
Akiba's visor is now covered in Phlegm.
"Yes please. Oseltamivir Phosphate for me."
